Hip Bursitis

Bursitis is one of the most common causes of hip pain. Often times there is sensitivity to the touch on the outside aspect of the hip with this condition. X-ray imaging is often performed to evaluate the hip joint and help differentiate whether the problem is more likely due to a break down in joint space or swelling within the bursa, or fluid filled sac, in the region. The bursa helps tendons slide over boney areas like the hip in a smooth fashion. When the bursa becomes aggravated it can cause clicking, popping, and pain in the area. Chiropractic care will likely utilize different therapies such as light therapy and muscle stimulation that help decrease the persistent swelling and irritation in the region.
